A Daughter’s Inheritance

203640: A Daughter"s Inheritance, Broadmoor Legacy Series #1A Daughter's Inheritance, Broadmoor Legacy Series #1
By Bethany House

Fanny Broadmoor prefers the rocky promontories of New York's Thousand Islands to the opulence of its society dinner parties. But like the currents of the great Saint Lawrence River, circumstances change in this late 19th-century resort. Cousins Amanda, Sophie, and Fanny are as close as sisters---but will their grandfather's last wish destroy their bond? 384 pages, softcover from Bethany.

CRM RATING: Teen
SPIRITUAL RATING: 2
CRM REVIEW: Be warned this book starts out slow. It is mostly giving you the back story for the following books in the series. Fanny and Michael have the best friend/forbidden love story. With Fanny’s sudden wealth all her relatives treat her worse than usual. On top of being kept apart from Michael, her uncle Jonas is trying to find an appropriate suitor for her. Sophie and Amanda come up with distractions to keep the suitors away. This agitates Uncle Jonas putting more friction between him and Fanny. The journey may start slow, but it doesn’t stay that way long. With Uncle Jonas’ greed, the question of Fanny’s heritage, and love torn apart this book ends in anticipation that will keep you longing for the next part of the story [An Unexpected Love].

WHAT YOU'LL FIND INSIDE:

Romance between a man and woman-Yes

Conducive to some sexual arousal– Yes

Felt this book properly represented a Biblical Worldview – Yes

I would recommend this book to a Christian audience – Yes

Other things of special note: This book is a set up for book two [An Unexpected Love]. Sophie Broadmoor is self-centered and flirtatious. Because her father is not giving her the attention she needs she is seeking it elsewhere. A light comment is made that Sophie has had her share of drinks.

Fanny tells a lie in order not to suffer a suitors company but is found out.

Fanny’s father commits suicide.
