But when a hazardous material spill places Pacific Mercy Hospital on disaster status and stresses staff, she's puts to the test. And thrown into conflict with the fire department's handsome incident commander who thinks her strategy is out of line.

Fire Captain Scott McKenna has felt the toxic effects of tragedy; he's learned to go strictly by the book to advance his career, heal his family, and protect his wounded heart. As they work to save lives, can they handle the attraction kindled between them . . . without getting burned?

CRM REVIEW:

Erin Quinn thought that moving with her grandmother back to the old beach house would solve her problems. When an emergency comes up at the hospital, her laid back strategy collides with those of the fire captain. Who does he think he is to be telling her what to do?

Scott McKenna has learned to play things by the book. All he has to do is keep moving forward; another promotion, a bigger paycheck, a chance to step out from his father’s shadow. He’ll do anything to escape the guilt of landing his nephew in the hospital.

Family. Priorities. Dreams. All are about to throw two hearts into disaster status. Calvert’s dialogue is vibrant. She had several points of view, which slowed her story some. Readers will impatiently anticipate her next book Code Triage.
