Needing a nursemaid, wealthy old miner Philip Smith advertises for a mail-order bride to come to rough-and-tumble Golden, New Mexico. Jeremiah Dennison insists that she'll be a golddigger. He may be right. When Madeleine Mercer arrives, she wins over Philip and Jeremiah---until a stranger comes to town. Will his accusations tarnish Madeleine's character? 320 pages, softcover.

CRM RATING: M
Explain: I was saddened that I could not rate this book as T because one scene got too

SPIRITUAL RATING: 3
Explain: N/A

CRM REVIEW:

Madeline Mercer is forced from a life of ease in Boston to the hard work of Golden, New Mexico. She praises God for the joy of her adopted daughter and the safety He has provided for her. Filial love floods her heart for the old miner who sent for her as a mail order bride.

The old coot can’t see past Madeline’s pretty eyes; Jeremiah can. He spotted gold digger… kind, charming, sweet too, but that doesn’t matter does it? Jeremiah can’t get that woman out of his mind or her daughter. The threat that chased Madeline from Boston is about to resurface. But who will be her protector?

Dooley brought me right into the story with her description. While the story was sweet and the idea was cute, often the emotion was dry and the plot dragged. At times I thought that the writing was redundant.

WHAT YOU'LL FIND INSIDE:

Romance between a man and woman - Yes

Fondling – No

Sex described but subtle – No

Sexual tension – No

Felt arousal when reading certain scenes – No*

Felt this book properly represented a Biblical world view – Yes

I would recommend this book to a Christian audience – Yes

Other things of special note: SPOILER: Excellent twist with the villain. *When Jeremiah and Madeline start courting, they more than less act as if they are married. This scene could be very arousing to younger readers.
