Nine Danger Words For Men

Me and the Motor Glider

The following message's authorship is unknown. Whoever wrote this, I thought it was worth a pass-a-long. No plagiarism intended!

Nine Words

Following this advice can lead to increased domestic tranquility...

I received this in my email box and had to share it.

1. Fine - This is the word women use to end an argument. Do not say anything further. This is the time when you keep your mouth shut.

2. Five Minutes - If she is getting dressed, this means a half hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game, before helping around the house.

3. Nothing - This is the calm before the storm. This means something and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing, usually end with fine. (see #1).

4. Go Ahead - This is a dare, not permission. DON'T DO IT!!

5. Loud Sigh - This is not really a word, but you need to be aware of its meaning just the same. This is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means, she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (see #3).

6. That's Okay - This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay, means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks - A woman is thanking you, do not question it or faint. Just say "You're welcome." (I want to add in a clause here - this is true UNLESS she says "Thanks alot" - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "You're welcome" as that will bring on the next word which is 'Whatever').

8. Whatever - Is a woman's way of saying TALK TO THE HAND.

9. Don't worry about it, I've got it - Another dangerous statement meaning this is something a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking, "What's wrong?". (For the woman's response refer to #3).

Of course this is all in fun, but I have to say a lot of these statements seem correct to me.

Ladies, we know you lurk around here, trying to figure us out, what do you think?

Nine Danger Words
by: John Long

Shauna,

We are communicators, tripping over simple communication. What a paradox.

My wife and I have a deal. She agrees that I am a man and therefore handicapped in the area of reading her mind.

I agree that she is a woman and therefore superior to me in all things, all ways and always right.

Our marriage is pretty much trouble free. We got it right the first day and keep it real and simple.

In truth, I tricked her into marrying me and my friends say I won the lottery that day. It's true. I'm just lucky that way.

My husband sent me this one too!
by: Shauna Hess Viele

Thanks for posting this, John! All humor aside, there are times when many of these words have been uttered by me with exactly those meanings. My husband wasn't so sure he agreed with the humor, but just the fact he forwarded the email meant he understands where it comes from!
It does make me pause and think, however.
How well do I really communicate? When I think about some of our misunderstandings, many of which occur when on vacation reading maps, I realize that what I sound like and what I mean are not necessarily the same thing.
