CRM RATING: M >SPIRITUAL RATING: 3 CRM REVIEW:Book Review: Sophie and Wesley’s romance sparks suddenly and heats into a conflagration that burns whatever “love” for each other they have. Although Paul tries to warn Sophie and protect her from the dangers of flaunting herself to men, she perceives his cautions as scolding. When Paul comes across Sophie on the edge of the cliff, he promises to save her reputation and in doing so ruins his. It isn’t until the middle of the book that Sophie begins to start caring for Paul and sacrificing for him. Fanny and Michael are still separated but by distance only. Their letters of correspondence seal their love with hope. Uncle Jonas orders one of the suitors to do whatever necessary in order to maintain an engagement to Fanny – even at the cost of propriety. Amanda volunteers to assists Dr. Carstead in hopes of proving herself in the medical field and to her father. “Unexpected” pretty much sums up the book in one word. The sacrifice of love is seen through Sophie and Paul, as well as Fanny and Michael. There is still much to be resolved by the time you reach the end. What will become of Fanny and Michael? Will justice ever come to Uncle Jonas? And will Amanda settle for the Broadmoor she’s supposed to be or the lady she was meant to become? All questions are answered in book number three A Surrendered Heart. Other things of special note: Although Sophie and Wesley sleep together nothing is said besides referring to their night together. When Wesley leaves Sophie to take care of the problem herself, Paul is surprisingly forced to persuade Sophie not to commit suicide.
